“Enrollment is only the first step.”
As our enrollment numbers grew, we encountered an uncomfortable truth.
Children were getting admitted, but many were not attending school regularly. Some stopped coming altogether. Others attended inconsistently and struggled academically. Despite full financial and logistical support, dropout rates in the first year were alarmingly high, close to 50%.
How Helping Hands Bridges the Gap
Recognising this challenge, Helping Hands strengthened its approach — shifting focus from enrollment alone to retention, attendance, and performance.
We now:
- Monitor attendance and academic results closely
- Identify children who are underperforming or frequently absent
- Visit homes to understand family circumstances and challenges
- Counsel and support both parents and students
- Provide extra academic support or individual guidance where required
- Introduce attendance-based and result-based incentives for both children and parents
By walking closely with each child and family, we address the real barriers that stand between enrollment and learning.

Walking With Every Child
Helping Hands exists to ensure that no child falls through the cracks.
While policies like NEP 2020 set a powerful national vision, real implementation happens on the ground — family by family, child by child. We are proud not only to bring children into classrooms, but to keep them there — engaged, motivated, and progressing.
Because education is not just about access. It is about achievement.
And at Helping Hands Foundation, we are committed to both.
